The Beijing Planetarium is a national natural science museum located in Beijing, China. Opened to the public in 1957, it was the first large-scale planetarium in China, and the only planetarium in Asia at that time.
Challenges
The Beijing Planetarium required to upgrade theater facilities to imitate an authentic starry sky to let the audience experience spacewalking, developing the museum into a major venue of astronomy science and education
Solutions
PCCW Solutions designed and installed the world's first 8K digital projection Dome Theater System, also implementing China’s first 2D / 3D automatic digital Dome Theater System.
Value created
The Beijing Planetarium became the first 3D Dome Science Theatre in China with various features, including celestial scenes demonstration, 3D astrospace simulations and digital programme show, enhancing customer experiences.
